The fifth largest city in IL, Peoria has a lot to offer it’s residents. It is one of the oldest settlements in the state of Illinois. Many still believe Peoria is representative of what the average American town is like. Many of the residents still claim Midwestern culture and values as their way of work. In other words, hard work and being kind to your neighbor is a way of life many in Peoria try to live by. The city is also pretty diverse demographically, which is a big draw for many. There is lots of culture in Peoria as well. The city houses the tenth oldest orchestra in the nation: The Peoria Symphony Orchestra. There’s also a youth symphony and ballet theaters as well. There’s museums and plenty of park land in Peoria as well.

Among the many admirers of the cities natural beauty are former President Theodore Roosevelt who found the Grandview Drive that runs through Peoria, one of the worlds most beautiful. There is not shortage of wholesome entertainment for families in Peoria. The city zoo aptly named Peoria Zoo has undergone expansion and is truly beautiful. There’s the yearly Steamboat classic that is not on the nations, but the worlds largest four mile race. This race has an international draw every year. The city is truly a welcome spot to search for a home.

Currently there are a littler over a thousand homes for sale in Peoria. The median sales price in Peoria is a little over a hundred thousand dollars. So at the end of the last quarter sellers were receiving about fifty thousand less dollars than they asked for at listing. There have only been thirty-four sales this quarter and many believe the market is on the upswing for both buyers and sellers. Unlike other areas, new homes are still selling in Peoria. While the price of homes for sale in less than it was a year ago, the area does not seem to have been as hard hit as other cities in Illinois. With only a little over one hundred homes in foreclosure, the work hard and pay your bills attitude of those in Peoria seemed to have served them well during the bursting of the housing bubble.

Top Rated Seattle Washington School Districts

There are several school districts surrounding Seattle, Washington. Several of them have top rated schools. Seattle and the surrounding districts consist of Kirkland, and Bremerton. There are several other districts that surround the Seattle area, however, for the purposes of simplicity we will concentrate on those that are the closest to the city. Aviation High School which is located in Seattle has out of a ten out of ten rating. This school is known for academics as well as, computer and debate. It has a 4 out of five parent rating on the great schools list.
One of the other schools that make the list is Bryant Elementary School in the Seattle School District. This school has a ten out of ten rating and a five out of five star parents review. This school is one that has high academic scores.
Eckstein Middle School located in the Seattle Public Schools district is also one that has high scores both for academics and parent reviews. This school has been rated a ten out of ten by the Great Schools people.
Hayes Elementary located in the Seattle Public Schools District is an elementary school that focuses on community service and chorus. It has gotten a 5 out of 5 rating on the great schools rating format. The average parent rating for this school is 5 out of 5 stars.
Lafayette Elementary School is also located in the Seattle School District. This school has gotten a 4 out of 5 rating based on surveys of about twenty five parents. This is an elementary school that focuses on Community Service, Phys. Ed and band.
In the nearby Bremerton, Washington area is located the Olympic High School which has a 6 out of ten rating on the Great Schools list. It is known for Band and Community Service. The Elementary School with the top rating is Crownhill with an average 8 out of 10 rating.
Kirkland Washington features the International Community School with a 10 out of 10 rating, and the Benjamin Franklin ES with a 10 out of ten rating on the Great Schools index, and average 4 out 5 stars for parent reviews. These are some of the more highly rated schools in the Seattle area.

Will That New Fence REALLY Up the Value of Your Home?

Generally speaking, money spent on fencing in your property could most likely be used towards more visual appealing projects. To the individual entering the property, a fence is viewed as something that you are using to either keep something in, or to keep something out. Or, in some cases, you are telling folks that you have a pool. In that case, the pool is the ?value-added? and the fence is just legally along for the ride.

Also keep in mind that before any fence project is taken on, you must take into account what your local zoning ordinances tell you. Some will say absolutely not, while others will tell you that a fence is ok, but that you have to do it their way. Meaning that the local zoning board will dictate height, size, and sometimes even porosity. In many cases, they may also inform you as to what materials you can use and even more importantly, what you cannot use. Some local laws forbid simple chain link fencing. Others encourage it.

Another good piece of advice is talking to your neighbors. Let them know what you have in mind, and especially WHY you want a fence. If your underlying goal is to keep them out, then tact becomes ever important. Excuses such as new pets, little children (their?s or yours), are all legitimate excuses. Notice we say excuses and not reasons.

Once you have decided that a fence is what you want, take time to study all the possibilities and ask yourself the important questions. How long to put it up? What is involved with normal maintenance, ie; staining, painting, washing, etc?. Keep in mind, that, in many cases, the preparation time and money for erecting a fence, can conceivably increase the cost of your project. That would include any cement work, excavation, tree trimming or removal, and underground checks for existing wiring, piping, and tree roots.

Many times, the answers to these questions alone will help you decide if fencing, especially fencing used merely for decorative affect, is really worth the effort and expense, considering it adds little, if any, value to your property.

With this in mind, Augusta, Georgia is a town of approximately 200,000 residents, and 500,000 including the metropolitan areas. The Savannah River runs right through town offering both entertainment, and esthetics. And Augusta is only 150 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, which makes for a really nice get-a-way. Augusta sits almost to the border of South Carolina and Georgia.

Augusta, Georgia is a great location for investment properties because it is a town in progress. It is located in the heartland of the south, it is a multi-cultural town, and is family oriented. There are many attractions to visit the Metropolitan Convention Center, Herbert Institute of Art, the Augusta Museum of History, Fort Discovery, The Morris Museum of Art, but Augusta is best known as the host for the Masters Golf Tournament in April, which draws thousands of golfers to play, but mostly to watch the top golfers from around the country.

The Housing Market in Springfield, IL

Springfield, IL is the capital of the state. It is also well known for being the residence of former President Abraham Lincoln. You will find many historical sites and a museum that teach about Lincoln and his life in Springfield. The heavy hitters in Illinois politics convene in Springfield for important meetings. The work force in the city are largely comprised of government positions because of this. As with many mid western cities you will find that the seasons are experienced in full. You get a taste of old man winter pretty heavily in Springfield as well. Some refer to Springfield as a city of seasons because it’s bustling with activity during political campaigns, but then relatively quite thereafter. If you’re looking to move to Springfield, you can expect the following from the housing market there. There are few things to do in Springfield outside of government related ventures. Many local residents in the area, enjoy the peace after the political big shots head to their respective homes.

The median home sale price is around one hundred thousand dollars and that’s surprisingly not too from off from the median sale price a year ago. While homes are selling, sellers are being forced to take around sixty thousand dollars less than their list price. At the end of this quarter, there were just a bit over one thousand two hundred homes for sale in Springfield. There are only about four hundred homes in foreclosure or pre-foreclosure and that’s not a bad sign for a city of this size. Many homes in the area are remaining on the market for longer periods of time however, and that’s a bad indication for sellers. It is typically a buyers market in Springfield. Some Realtors and other market professionals don’t predict a turn in the tide for sellers until the first quarter of next year. There are some depressed areas in Springfield and if you’re looking to buy a home, you should consult an experienced Realtor who truly knows the area and not just the history. Top Rated Phoenix School Districts

Unfortnately Arizona has some of the worst elementary and secondary public schools in the nation. Currently it ranks #42 out of all 50 states. State funding has been cut due to the current economic conditions. Federal programs such as No Child Left Behind have helped ease some of the pain but the public schools are still suffering.

Some of the more affluent cities like Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Chandler and Litchfield Park have above average schools and could be included in a list of top rated phoenix school districts. There are also select elementary, middle and high schools in other areas that are excelling.

Many families in Arizona have chosen to participate in state funded charter schools and state funded online education programs. In an effort to improve the educational system in Arizona, the state has opened up opportunities for these alternative forms of public education. Charter schools are state funded but independently run schools that take a different and often more challenging approach to education. They generally hold their students to a higher standard and, in return, the students get a better education. Test scores, grades and attitudes are all better at charter schools. Many charter schools require their students to wear uniforms.

Another option to getting your child into a top rated phoenix school district is an online education program. These online public school programs are individualized and tuition-free. They are available from kindergarten through 12th grade. Some parents choose online programs as a solution when students are not performing well in a traditional public school, either due to the quality of the education offered or due to negative peer influences. Either way, online programs are innovative and award-winning programs that work well for many families.

Arizona also has a large homeschool movement, both secular and non-secular. The state is more open minded about homeschooling than most and welcomes this approach.

Of course, whether or not you are in a top rated phoenix school is not as important as how much effort is put into the learning experience by the child and his/her parents.

A look at the Housing market in Aurora Illinois

Aurora, Illinois is a large city in the state and is the third most populous. It has been considered one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. It has a downtown area that contains lots of places for entertainment and the city itself has a long history of entertainment venues. Their yearly festival which is held for three consecutive weekends in the summer: “Downtown Alive” is frequented by many in Aurora and the surroundings areas. When it comes to architecture Aurora has some history as well. The famous architect George Grant Elmslie designed his largest collection of commercial buildings in Aurora. There is also a huge Blues festival held yearly in Aurora that attracts upwards of thirteen thousand attendees. While this area has been known for entertaining its populace, you might wonder about the real estate market in the area.

There are currently a little over fifteen hundred homes for sale on the market in Aurora, IL. At the end of this quarter a little over twelve hundred homes were sold. Those selling their homes are taking about sixty thousand less than their asking price. The average sale price is currently around one hundred and forty-four thousand dollars. The time that homes are on the market in Aurora is about one hundred and fifty-five days. That being said it’s pretty much still a buyers market in Aurora. Buyers are getting the homes and the prices they want.

The comparison to the sale of homes a year prior does not look good for Aurora as the price of homes that sold a year prior has decreased. There are thousands of homes in a state of pre-forclosure as well. This also doesn’t bode well for the housing market in Aurora. There was a slight increase in the sale price of homes at the end of this quarter, but nothing significant to show an upwardly mobile trend. Many Realtors in the area are not seeing the housing rebound that is readily available in other parts of Illinois. Since the areas in Aurora are very unique and can be vastly different, you should consult a professional to help you make your home sale in this large city.

If you would like to take a vacation where you will experience true southern hospitality, then Augusta, Georgia is the place for you. Nothing says southern more than a few days in Georgia. Augusta is centrally located and easy to reach. If you like to stay at a B&B, a cottage or high end hotel, there is something for you in Augusta, Georgia.

For a fantastic long weekend, try the Partridge Inn, which is located in the historic and lovely Summerville Hill area. This historic Inn will wrap you in luxury in any of the 156 rooms and you can dine one of their two award-winning restaurants. There are all the usual amenities such as a pool and a modern exercise facility. Relax and enjoy yourself after a day of sightseeing at the Morris Museum of Art. Perhaps you are an avid golfer. If so, then the Goshen Plantation Golf Club may be the greens of your choice.

Don?t forget a visit to the County Club Dance Hall and Saloon for a little music and some great drinks. There is always some kind of action happening that will pull you in and let you unwind. If you prefer a nice walk with your spouse where you can enjoy beautiful scenery, try Riverwalk. Riverwalk will also lead you directly to the Morris Museum of Art and other tourist spots. Take your camera; you want to capture the memories.

If you are unsure of what is happening in Augusta, be sure to stop at the visitor?s center first to get literature on the city. While there you should make a reservation for a Saturday guided tour of the city. Be sure to check out the boyhood home of President Woodrow Wilson. The 11 mile long Augusta Canal is the only remaining working industrial power canal in the United States.

Use Augusta as your home base and head over to Atlanta for a day, or make a beach run to Tybee Island. There is so much to see and so much to do when you visit Augusta, Georgia
