If you hate cold weather and are considering a move to a warm climate year round, consider Miami Florida. The weather is great, the beaches are beautiful and there are so many interesting things to do year round. While Miami used to be the spot that senior citizens choose to retire, today?s Miami has a heavy Latin influence making it a multi-cultural multi-generational city like no other. If you are young and unmarried there is no better city to live in.

Along with the rest of the country, Miami is struggling to keep employment numbers from falling further than they already have. Due to having some of the highest unemployment numbers in the country, it is wise to have a job lined up before making the move. The top employers in the area are in the service industry like: Publix Super Markets, Baptist Health South Florida, The University of Miami and American Airlines.

Because Miami has so many diverse cultures, selecting a neighborhood to live in without knowing what to expect can be a very stressful situation. Consider renting a home or apartment for six months to a year before you buy. This will give you an ample amount of time to explore the Miami area to find the perfect place to call home.

Finally, if you are an outdoor person, Miami is a brilliant place to live! The sun and beaches are one of the main reasons that Miami is still such a hot tourist attraction. There are hundreds things that you can do to enjoy the outdoors here, including taking a fishing charter on the Atlantic Ocean, a day cruise to The Bahamas, Swim with the Dolphins, go snorkeling and the list can go on and on. If there is one thing for sure about a move to Miami, you would never be bored.

If those aren?t enough reasons to start looking in the want ads and call a Realtor right now, I don?t know what would be. The fact is, Miami, was and still is one of the top locations in this country to relocate.

Save Money, Look into Selling your own Home

January 20th, 2009

shutterstock_22239283Most people think of making money when they sell their home. And while many people are right in this regard others are not. Remember, there are a lot of costs that go into selling real estate. One of the most overlooked is the fee (commission) that you will pay your real estate agent. Fortunately, there is a way around this and it is known as selling your home by owner. In other words you are the one selling your home; you don?t hire an agent. In turn, the six percent (or more) that you would pay an agent stays in your pocket. As you can imagine, this is a large chunk of money no matter how much your home sells for.

While there is nothing wrong with selling on your own, especially since it can save you money, this process can bring stress to your life. When you work with a real estate agent you are not doing much except keeping your house in good condition and communicating from time to time. Your agent is the one in charge of marketing, taking people through your home, etc. But if you don?t have an agent this is your job. Are you up to the task? Is it worth the money that you will save?

Before you decide to put a ?for sale by owner? sign in your yard consider what goes along with this. Weigh the pros against the cons to see if this is the best way to move forward.

There is no arguing that you can save money by selling your home without an agent. But at the same time you also need to know that this puts you fully in charge of your situation. Are you willing to take on this responsibility without professional help?
